A story from America

Office at night:
Private investigator Spanner is sitting at his office in the heart of New York. It’s late at night and the streetlights hit the grey-painted walls. His secretary, Harrison, is just about to leave, but Spanner has to do lots of overwork -time. He has a case of with to murders in a flat near his office. He grabs his pocket of Marlboro as Miss Harrison leaves the office. He lits his Ronson-lighter and smokes his cigaret. He sits quiet and thinks for a moment. Then he turns off the lights and leaves the office with his jacket in his hand.

Night windows:
A few days before in on an early morning miss Arrish comes home after her night job, singing in a bar. When she enters her flat she first notices the cold. A window is open. She wonders why it’s open because she always closes her windows before she leaves her flat. She gets a little frightened. She enters her living room where the open window is, and she sees a terrible sight. There is two men laying at the floor. They are dead and there’s blood all over the place. To her fright, she finds out that one of the men is her brother who had a key to her flat. She have has never seen the other man before. She contacts an ambulance and Dick Spanner. He takes the case as a double-murdercase.

Hotel lobby:
There is an old man standing in the lobby at Palace Hotel. He is just about to check out of the hotel when Spanner enters. He hits rammer? the counter and asks for the guest who lived in the suite which have has a round window to(wards) 5th Avenue. The young woman at the counter points at a man with a suitcase. Spanners walks to him and says: ”The name is Spanner, Dick Spanner. Private Investigator.” He never reach gets to say anymore because the old man just says: ”Yes, it was me who killed the men on the other side of the street.” Then he takes, from his jacket, a .44 Magnum and blows his head off.
Spanner stands still for a moment, thinking: ”Why not, if he dies here or i a chair – it could be the same!” The case is closed, but still Spanner gots has a few questions: Why did the man kill the two other men? Why did he kill himself? And what did the two men do in Miss Arrish’s flat?
But these questions Spanner can never answer.

Tjubang... en rigtig drenge-stil!!
En god stil, der viser sprogligt overskud, på trods af, ”skønhedspletterne”.
